May as Elder Law Month

The attorneys and staff of Johnson Teigen, LLC observe May as Elder Law Month, as designated by the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA).  This year, NAELA and AARP have joined forces to highlight the importance of fighting scams and fraud, especially as they affect older adults.  NAELA has published Protecting Rights. Fighting Scams, as a guide to help you avoid and report scams.  In addition, AARP monitors and reports on the latest threats of various scams and how to avoid them.

In addition to being vigilant about scams and potential bad actors, it is important to have trusted individuals named in your power of attorney and estate planning documents.  Strong documents are just part of the planning, along with comprehensive legal advice for your personal circumstances and concerns.  Attorneys Mark Johnson and Meghan Teigen are committed to advancing the interests of our older clients through our memberships and leadership in NAELA and the State Bar of Wisconsin Elder Law and Special Needs section.
