Barbara Hughes receives NAELA national community service award
The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) has awarded the 2021 Powley Elder Law Award for community service to Attorney Barbara S. Hughes. Attorney Hughes retired from Johnson Teigen, LLC in June 2020, and continues to consult with the firm and to serve in various roles in the legal and charitable community. NAELA presents the Powley Award annually to a NAELA member who is recognized by his or her community as a leader in promoting a greater understanding of the rights and needs of elders and persons with special needs. In particular, Barbara was recognized for her significant contributions to national and Wisconsin NAELA, the State Bar of Wisconsin Elder Law and Special Needs Section, The Arc-Dane County, and Wispact.
The award includes a charitable contribution of $1,000, which Barbara has designated to benefit The Arc-Dane County. In acknowledging her numerous colleagues in the legal profession and The Arc, Barb said “Thank you for being part of my career and life journey, inspiring me and enabling me to use my skills as an attorney to help others through planning and advocacy.”
