Johnson Teigen Attorneys Write on Trusts and POAs

Johnson Teigen attorneys, Meghan M. Teigen and Mark T. Johnson recently wrote articles for two leading magazines for attorneys.  The attorneys of Johnson Teigen, LLC are active in writing and presenting for general and professional audiences on topics of elder law, special needs law, estate planning, and trust and estate administration.

NAELA News published “Seven Pitfalls and Six Solutions of the Medicaid 5-Year Trust” in its first issue of 2020.  In that article, Attorneys Teigen and Johnson encourage elder law attorneys to take a comprehensive approach in advising clients about irrevocable Medicaid trusts.  Attorneys and clients need to be aware of all the pros and cons of such a trust before determining it is a suitable planning option.

In the February 2020 issue of the Wisconsin Lawyer, Attorney Mark T. Johnson discusses an individual’s autonomy and powers of attorney.  His article, “You’re Not the Boss of Me: Principal’s Autonomy Under a POA,” covers the common law basis of autonomy in agency law, especially as it relates to Wisconsin powers of attorney.  That article is part of the Wisconsin Lawyer‘s series on preventing elder financial abuse.
