Iris M. Christenson (retired)

Attorney Iris Christenson is a founder of the law firm and retired in May 2019, after a nearly three-decade career in estate planning, estate administration, elder law, and special needs planning.  She received her undergraduate degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin (1976) and graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School (1990).  She is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin (Elder Law and Special Needs Section and Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section), of which she is a past chairperson.  Also, she was recognized by her peers in the 25th Edition of The Best Lawyers in America(R) in the practice area of Elder Law.

Iris continues to use her legal skills in retirement, and in November 2020 she was recognized with the Dane County Bar Association’s Community Partner Pro Bono Award.  The Dane County Bar Association newsletter reports: “Atty. Christenson is passionate about making a direct difference in the lives of immigrants and refugees. . . .  Atty. Christenson provides pro bono administrative legal services for the Immigration Legal Services Program . . . [which] offers immigration legal services to low/no income immigrants who are otherwise unable to afford representation.”

In 2024, the State Bar of Wisconsin recognized Iris with its Diversity & Inclusion Trailblazer Award, for her contributions to diversity and inclusion in the Wisconsin legal community:  “In numerous ways throughout her career, Christenson has modeled an inclusive practice and promoted diversity and inclusion among her peers and the State Bar of Wisconsin.”
